Kansas Running Events Running, whether its in the form of road running (marathons, half-marathons, or shorter distances) or trail running (off-road, often on wooded mountain bike or equestrian trails), is always a popular sport, combining a physical challenge with a low cost of entry.

The following are a few of the many upcoming running events in the state of Kansas:

2012-03-03 – 13th Annual Truffle Shuffle 5K & Little Truffle Shuffle – Overland Park, KS
Join us for the 13th Annual Truffle Shuffle which takes place on the beautiful campus of Johnson County Community College.
2012-03-31 – 2nd Annual Hill 2 Hill 5K Race – Herington, KS
This is a benefit for the Herington Recreation Commission. The monies raised by this event will go to help with repairs needed to the baseball diamonds and concession stand.
2012-04-01 – 3rd Annual Indian Creek Half Marathon & 5K – Overland Park, KS
Tech Tees to everyone while they last. Register by March 15th to guarentee your shirt & size.
2012-04-07 – 2012 Run For Mercy 5K/10K – Shawnee, KS
The 2012 Run For Mercy 5k/10k will take place on Saturday, April 7 at 8AM, starting at Mill Valley High School in Shawnee, KS. Both the 5k and 10k races are officially-timed, US Track and Field certified courses.
2012-04-14 – Amy Schutter Memorial/Benefit Run – Wamego, KS
Amy Schutter was a resident of Alma, KS who lost her life last February after a valiant struggle against a flu virus that attacked her heart and body. All proceeds will benefit her four children's education fund.
2012-04-14 – Link 4 Life - 9th Annual – Wichita, KS
The 9th Annual Link 4 Life Run to Prevent Suicide is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, 2012 at the Old Cowtown Museum. These events will run through the beautiful paths on the Arkansas River.
2012-04-21 – Garmin Marathon In the Land of Oz – Olathe, KS
USATF Certified Marathon, Half Marathon, and 5K through the beautiful city streets and trails in eastern Kansas.
2012-04-21 – Royal Tracs 5K and Royal Kids Fun Run – Manhattan, KS
An out and back course along park trails and Linear trail. Mixed trail, very flat. No spikes, please.
2012-04-28 – 2012 Brent Bays 5K/10K Run/Walk Event – Gardner, KS
The Brent Bays Foundation works year round to raise money for families in and around the Gardner, KS area who are fighting cancer, whether physically or now just financially.
2012-04-28 – 2012 Midnight Run - 5K and 1 Mile – Leawood, KS
Let's find out who the fastest night runner is in Kansas City! Join us for a unique Midnight Run in Leawood, KS.
2012-05-19 – Maguire Gilner Angel Day 5K Run/Walk – Olathe, KS
This race is dedicated in memory of Maguire Davis and his brother, Titus Wiley Gilner - and to all our Angel Babies that left our arms too soon. Proceeds from this event will be used to help other grieving parents cover the cost of a headstone.
2012-06-02 – Get Fit 5K & Get Fit Youth TRYathlon – Pittsburg, KS
This event is for participants of all ability levels. Participants should make sure to bring all of their equipment to the clinic and triathlon. This will include but is not limited to: 1) swim suit, swim goggles, and 2 towels, 2) bike and bike helmet, 3) running shorts, running t-shirt, hat, sunglasses, 4) dry clothes for after the event, 5) sunscreen, water, and a light snack. Additional refreshments will be provided.
2012-06-02 – Rib Run 2 – Marysville, KS
Medals for 5K and 10K in both male and female divisions.
2012-06-09 – 2012 Storm the Dam Half Marathon, 10K and 5K Trail Run – El Dorado, KS
Storm the Dam Trail Run is a foot race through the trees and horse trails of the El Dorado State Park. The run has many challenges, so come prepared for an adventure.
2012-07-21 – Danisco Prairie Punisher Duathlon & 5K – Gardner, KS
The Duathlon is a 5K run, followed by a 34.5K bike, finishing with another 5K run. In addition to the Duathlon, there will be a 5K run and a 5K walk. All 5K walk proceeds will go to the Gardner Gold Special Olympics team.
2012-10-14 – Prairie Fire Marathon (Wichita, KS) – Wichita, KS
Enter early and get ready to conquer the burn of the Prairie Fire Marathon throughout the City of Wichita.
2012-11-18 – 16th Annual Gobbler Grind Marathon, Half Marathon, 5K & Kids Run – Overland Park, KS
Runners & Walkers, I hope you will join us for the 16th Annual Gobbler Grind. Participants receive a Long Sleeve Technical T-shirt while they last.
