The Major Taylor Foundation of Greater Kansas City is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote a healthy community through the sport of cycling by providing education, resource and opportunity.
The group rides from Acme Bicycle every Saturday morning at 11:30. Donations of usable bicycles, clothing and accessories for the Major Taylor Foundation are accepted at Acme Bicycle and Trek Bicycle Store of Kansas City.
The foundation is names for Marshall Walter ("Major") Taylor, who was an African American cycling champion in the late 1890's and early 1900's, and who remains an inspiration to this day (learn more).
