Car Show to Benefit Family of Accident Victims

This is amazing:

A car show is scheduled for Oct. 26 to benefit the family of Claudia and Gisele Mijares.

Claudia Mijares and her 4-year-old daughter were killed earlier this month when they were struck by a vehicle near Gardiner Elementary School in south Wichita.

Gary Hammitt, 54, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder and driving under the influence in connection with the accident.

The car show is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Star Lumber & Supply, 325 S. West St. Alejandro Mijares, the husband and father of the victims, is a 15-year employee of the company.

I understand and applaud the intent of the event, but … a car show? To benefit victims who died when they were hit by a car?

Isn’t that like a gun show to honor victims of gun violence?

Why celebrate the instrument of their death?
