Trails KC Plan Goes to City Council

Trails KCThe Trails KC plan is finally going before the Kansas City, Missouri City Council.

The trails plan, which calls for 230 miles of off-street shared use trails, 26 miles of on-street facilities and 41 miles of equestrian trails, was unanimously approved by the City Plan Commission in September, and will now be considered by the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee and then the Planning & Zoning Committee.

Both committees will take action on the plan, so it would be great if community members could attend one or both meetings. This is not only an opportunity to show the Council the public’s desire for trails development and improved bike/ped accommodations, but also an opportunity to express the importance of supporting/funding the plan’s implementation. We don’t want this to be just another plan on a shelf.

Hearing times/locations:

Transportation & Infrastructure Committee
Thursday, Oct 30th, 10:00 am
City Hall, 414 E 12th Street, 10th Floor

Planning & Zoning Committee
Wednesday, Nov 5th, 1:30pm
City Hall, 414 E 12th Street, 26th Floor

If you cannot attend, it would be helpful if you could write an email in support of the plan. Address it to Councilmember Russ Johnson, Chairman, Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, and to Councilmember Terry Riley, Chairman, Planning and Zoning Committee.
