Social Entrepreneurship Forum In Kansas City

Dr. David Renz, director of the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, will lead the discussion. He will be joined by Kenneth Walker, founder of the Urban Kansas City Community of Cycling.

Urban Kansas City Community of CyclingThe mission of the Urban Kansas City Community of Cycling (UKCCC) is to provide healthful cycling activities/opportunities for the urban community, with an emphasis on African American youth, and to provide equipment to participate in cycling activities for those without access to such because of economic limitations.

Together, they will discuss the meaning of being a social entrepreneur, the associated risks, and resources available to those interested in becoming a social activist. Both locally- and nationally-recognized social leadership groups will have tables at the event. Opportunities to provide audience engagement and additional feedback will be the focus point of these groups.

In addition to the forum, screenings of the FRONTLINE/WORLD Social Entrepreneur series will be shown on Wednesday, November 12 and Wednesday, November 19 at 5:30 p.m in the Film Vault at the Central Library.

FRONTLINE/WORLD is a PBS international news magazine that explores the global community. The Library program is possible because of collaboration between FRONTLINE/WORLD and the American Library Association’s Programs Office.

Admission is free. Click here or call 816.701.3407 to indicate your interest in attending.
