Wichita Police Ask For Help Identifying Vehicle

Police in Wichita, Kansas are asking for help in identifying the vehicle that struck and injured 54-year-old Albert Pete as he was riding his bicycle in Wichita early Sunday morning.

Pete was riding along South Hydraulic when an SUV crashed into him and then drove off without stopping. He is listed in “very critical condition” at a local hospital, with severe head trauma.

A nearby surveillance camera captured the collision, but yielded few clues, according to police. “It was very hard to see anything at all on the video.”

The following news report from KAKE includes a clip from the surveillance video:

Police are looking for a dark-colored SUV, possibly a GMC. Police say it likely now has front end damage or a broken headlight.

Anyone with information about the crash or the vehicle involved is asked to call 911, the Wichita Police Department Accident Follow-up Unit at 316-268-4131 or Crime Stoppers at 316-267-2111.
