#30DaysOfBiking 2012: Wet Road

Today is day #4 of the 2012 30 Days Of Biking challenge:

It was a cool and mostly cloudy day, but I got out for a short ride at lunch, perfect timing to catch a bit of rain in the last two miles.

I generally try to avoid riding in the rain, but once I’m in it, I enjoy it, and this shower was pretty mild, starting as a sprinkle, raining lightly for a bit, then letting up after the roads were wet.

This photo was intending to show a nice rooster tail spray for the tire, but by the time I got set up to take the shot, there wasn’t a lot of water left on the road. So the picture wasn’t as dramatic as I’d hoped for, but I hope you get the idea.

I like the way the damp asphalt looks like some sort of glossy, shimmering, liquid surface, with just the slightest bit of spray coming off the wheel…

OK, I’m sure I’m missing the obvious answer, but I have to ask: How did you take that picture while your bike was moving?

Had the camera mounted to a tripod, and held the tripod with one hand (all three legs together) while riding. Took me a bit to get the length and the angles right. 😉
