The mission of the Free State Racing Team is to compete at a high level in USCF racing in the Midwest. Free State Racing is a USCF-registered club and provides an environment for beginning racers to learn all aspects of bicycle road racing and upgrade through the USCF categories and engage in all levels of USCF and NORBA amateur bicycle racing.

Free State Racing promotes amateur bicycle racing in Kansas, the city of Lawrence, and throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area. It also conduct clinics and educational events for all those interested in bicycle racing, and contributes to local, regional, and national organizations that promote amateur bicycle racing.

Members are expected to compete regularly in local races and to volunteer or participate in events sponsored by Free State Racing.
