The Bishop's Bicycle Challenge is an annual fundraising bicycle ride in Wichita, Kansas to benefit the United Methodist Open Door, a Wichita agency offering food/clothing/shelter for those in need. Here's a message from Bishop Scott Jones:
"For hundreds of years United Methodists have cared about living healthy lifestyles and helping the poor. This a chance to combine both of these activities. I'll be riding that day with as many sponsors as I can find. For weeks in advance of the ride I will be "in training" to be able to cross the finish line. Join me and many others in a great activity for a great cause."
The start and finish will be at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church on East 13th and K96, across 13th from the Warren Theater. Registration will open at 6:30 and the rides will start at 7:30. The route will follow rolling hills south and east of Wichita past a couple of scenic horse farms and part of the route following a river valley. All riders will get a free tee-shirt and a pair of cycling socks. Registration fees and fundraising minimums are: $25.00 registration fee and a $100.00. We encourage riders to register on-line.
