The Firecracker 100 is a single-day bike tour that starts in Ottawa, and is held in early July, with proceeds donated to the Kansas Jaycees Cerebral Palsy Ranch.
The purpose of the Kansas Jaycees Cerebral Palsy Ranch is to provide a program that will allow mentally and/or physically challenged children and adults to enjoy their highest level of functioning and independence, consistent with their abilities, in a summer camp setting.
There are 40-mile, 62-mile, and 100-mile options, with SAG support every 10 miles or so, as well as lunch, ice cream and watermelon.
A note from the organizers:
Due to family events coming up in the next couple of months, we will not be holding the Firecracker 100 Bike Ride this year (2011). We will be hosting it again next year on July 7th, 2012, beginning again in Forest Park in Ottawa, Kansas.
