Kansas City Cyclocross National Championships

The best racers in American cyclocross fight for the right to wear the stars and stripes jersey at the annual U.S. National Cyclocross Championships. In 2008, these take place each at Wyandotte County Park in Kansas City, Kansas.
Four days of epic racing take place on a technical, challenging and fast course for junior, collegiate, master and elite athletes from all over the country. The event venue will offer spectators multiple vantage points on the action, an Expo area, kids activities and beer garden.
Cyclocross is a cross between road racing and mountain biking. Competitors race laps around a course featuring a variety of surfaces (pavement, grass, sand, gravel, dirt, etc.) while negotiating a number of obstacles that may require them to dismount and remount their bicycle. Races are very exciting to watch because they consist of adrenalin-filled laps around short courses.
