Neewollah Bike Ride

Neewollah Bike Ride

The annual Neewollah Bike Ride will take riders through scenic Southeast Kansas. Each of the rides begins and ends in Independence's historic Riverside Park, at the 4-H Building across from the stadium. This ride offers distances of 18, 35, and 70 miles. All routes will head west near the Elk City Reservoir before branching out on the different routes.

Rest stops will be about every 10 miles. Water, fruit, cookies and other snacks will be offered. SAG vehicles will also run the routes. Riders unable to finish will be transported back to Riverside Park.

Neewollah is an annual celebration in Southeast Kansas that began in 1919 as a way to keep playful pranksters out of mischief on Halloween night. For one full week, Neewollah (Halloween spelled backwards) entertains people from all walks of life, offering musical stage shows, queen competition and coronation, carnival, street acts, artist's alley, band competition, and top performers in the entertainment world. The festival is held the last full week of October and is topped off by one of the biggest parades ever!

Apparently, the Bike Ride is no longer being held as part of the Neewollah Festival, as it's no longer listed on their web site. It was last held in 2009.
