The mission of the Safe Roads Coalition is to promote safe roads, pathways, and sidewalks in La Plata County, Colorado and its towns and cities for all users, and to foster more positive relationships among all road users, with a special emphasis on those actions to improve bicycling and pedestrian safety.
The group monitors and influences public policy and serves as a liaison with the City of Durango, La Plata County, and Colorado Department of Transportation to improve the safety of key roads for all users. This includes making recommendations for safer transportation facilities for bicycles, pedestrians, and motorists, including road, street, and sidewalk improvements, along with education, enforcement, and planning activities.
