Kansas Cycling Photos

Photos From The Album
Sam's Tastee Treat - Sam's Tastee Treat is located in Olathe, KS. It's an old-style ice cream and burger joint that's been open since 1963. Kansas Stream at Hillsdale Lake - A small rocky stream crossing on the mountain bike trails at Hillsdale Lake. This was during a fairly wet Spring, so there was quite a bit of water flowing. Later in the year, this stream is likely to be smaller and slower. Lone Elm Park - This plaque at Lone Elm Park near Olathe, KS shows that the Santa Fe Trail, Oregon Trail, and California Trail all passed through this site. Lone Elm Park was originally a famous campground during settlement of the west. Today, a small nature park with a couple miles of trails occupies the site. Hillsdale Lake Trail - This is typical of a lot of the trails on the south side of Hillsdale Lake -- a winding path through grassland and cedars. This is perhaps smoother than most ... the trails get a lot of horse traffic, so some of it is pretty rough, and gets muddy in a few places. But good riding, for the most part. Nowhere, Kansas - Nowhere, KS was originally a stop on the Leavenworth, Lawrence and Fort Gibson railroad, and today the Midland Railway runs on these tracks. As far as I can tell, this is all that's left of the town. So this is a literal picture of
Silver Creek Bridge - This is the Silver Creek Bridge in Cowley County (bridgehunter.com), a beautiful two-span stone arch bridge built in 1890. Cowley County is home to at least 17 stone arch bridges. 2011 Biking Across Kansas Finish Line - Two cyclists celebrate reaching the Missouri state line at the finish of the 2011 Biking Across Kansas tour. Near La Cygne, Kansas. Linn County, Kansas Cyclists - Cyclists enjoying the fall colors on Queens Road, near the Marais des Cygnes National Wildlife Refuge, in Linn County, Kansas. Paola Shadow Rider - A bicyclist rides through a snow-covered landscape in Paola, Kansas. Leavenworth First City Mural - Bicycle tourists pose beneath the 'First City' mural in Leavenworth, Kansas. The mural depicts 'Buffalo Bill', an early lawman in what was the first city incorporated in the state of Kansas.
Bicyclists in Olathe, Kansas - Bicyclists on a sidepath along 111th Street, cross a bridge over the Mill Creek Streamway, in Olathe, Kansas. Bicyclists on the Mill Creek Streamway in Olathe, Kansas - Bicyclists and pedestrians enjoy the Mill Creek Streamway in Olathe, Kansas.
General Kansas bicycling photographs, taken all over the state. This album is a catch-all for photos that don't belong in other albums.
