Prairie Spirit Trail Trek

Prairie Spirit Trail Trek

The Prairie Spirit Trail Trek is an annual autumn ride on the Prairie Spirit Trail. Ride from Ottawa to Garnett and back (40+ miles) on the scenic Prairie Spirits Rails to Trail. 10 and 24 mile options are also available. For those doing the entire ride, lunch will be in Garnett.

Directions: Meet at 10:00am at Kingman Road and Route 59 just south of I-35 in Ottawa. Coming south from Ottawa on 59, take a right (west) on Kingman Road (just south of the old factory) and meet in the parking area where the trail crosses Kingman Road.

There is no cost for the ride, but you're responsible for paying the daily State Park permit fee of $3.50. There are self-pay stations located at the Ottawa, Princeton, Richmond, and Garnett trailheads. The Prairie Spirit Trail surface is hard-packed limestone screenings, so fat tires are recommended.

Note: This event has not been scheduled for several years, so presumably the ride has been discontinued...
