Kansas Trails Council

The Kansas Trails Council is an organization dedicated to promoting the development and enjoyment of Kansas trails. It began informally in 1974 when a group of trail enthusiasts joined together to build multi-use trails near several Kansas lakes. Its primary purposes are to develop and maintain multi-use trails, provide resources to trail developers and trail stewards, provide trail information to interested parties, and educate trail stewards and trail users.

Over the years, the KTC has worked with the Army Corps of Engineers and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, to develop or maintain trails at Clinton Lake, El Dorado Lake, Elk City Lake, Fall River Lake, Melvern Lake, Perry Lake, Toronto Lake and Tuttle Creek Lake. The KTC also maintains the Dornwood Park and the MacLennan Park trails in Topeka.
